Prize Money $3000

We are excited to introduce this new event in 2008, with prize money donated by our major sponsor, Raising the Bar and Ceroc Australia Dance Company.
Competitors eligible for this event will be the winners of the Qualifying Events.
A series of Qualifying competitions will be run at BIG DANCE "Dance Parties" leading up to the championships - the winners of these Qualifying competitions will be eligible to compete in this new category on the day of the Championships. See below for a list of competition dance parties
Call the office to register your interest. It is important you get in early as there are limited spaces at each qualifying event. Prize money of $150 will be awarded to first place couple at each Qualifying Event
Rules for the Qualifying Event
- There will be a maximum of 4 couples per Qualifying Event at the BIG DANCE Dance Party
- Each time a couple enters a Qualifying Event, the entry fee is $30 per couple (includes entry into the Dance Party) Payment is payable to the office, with completed entry forms by the Thursday, prior to the BIG DANCE.
- Entry forms must be signed by both parties. Entry form must be completed correctly and in full. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify the couple before during or after the event.
- Prize money of $150 will be awarded to first place couple at the Qualifying Event at the BIG DANCE
- The Qualifying Event will be judged by the audience.
- You can only Qualify for the People's Choice Championship Category once, with one partner. Replacement partners are not permitted.
- If you don't win a Qualifying Event you may try again at a subsequent BIG DANCE, assuming you can book a spot. You may enter with the same partner or a new partner. If with a new partner, then a new set of completed forms must be received at the office on the Thursday, prior to the BIG DANCE.
- Music selection must be provided prior to the Dance Party. On the night of the Qualifying Event, the music must be given to the DJ. Music should be in the format of mp3 or CD. However, both would be advisable
- Within one week of winning your Qualifying Event, you must notify the Ceroc Australia Dance Company office in writing that you intend to compete in the Championships on 27 Sept. At this time you will need to enter the mainstream part of the competition. Should you pull out of the general competition, you will not be able to enter the People's Choice Category. Note that the music and choreography performed in the Championships do not have to be the same as what was used in the Qualifying Event.
- Dancers competing for the first time in a Qualifying Event, will be given priority to enter the Qualifying Event. From Thursday prior to the Dance Party, competitors trying a second time can apply to enter, provided spaces are available.
- Interstate entrants Only people from that state will be eligible to compete in that state's Qualifying Event. Interstate entrants may compete at any of the Sydney Qualifying Events, as long as there are spaces available, as per the entry requirements listed above.
- Overseas entrants Please contact the Ceroc Australia Dance Company office to determine eligibility to enter.
- The dancing must be minimum 70% Modern Jive. Dancers who fail to achieve this may be disqualified at any point of the competition. A Modern Jive committee has the final word on this. If you are not sure you can pre-show your routine to the committee. For more info, please contact the office.

- Sat Jun 21: Parramatta RSL Club
- Sat Jul 12: Botany RSL Club
- Sat Aug 2: Central Coast Diggers Club
- Sat Aug 16: Ceroc Central, The Ashfield Polish Club
- Sat Aug 23: Chatswood RSL Club
- Sat Sep 13: Botany RSL Club
- Sat Sep 20: Parramatta RSL Club
Rules for the Finals
- Dancers must also be competing at their level in the main Competition categories. They don't necessarily have to dance with each other in the main categories.
- Must be male/female partnership
- This event will be judged by the audience and judges. (50/50) Also, audience and judges results will be revealed.
- Prize money of $3000.00 has been allocated to this category. The break up of the prize money being awarded will be:
- First Place: $2000
- Second Place: $500
- Third Place: $500
- Ceroc Australia Dance Company reserves the right to issue special invitations to this event.
- To be eligible for this People's Choice Championship Category, you must dance in one of the specified qualifying events and have won it.
Music:
- Dancer's choice. Judges recommendation a maximum of 4 minutes
- Judges may judge a routine to be too lengthy if competitors go over the judge’s recommendation.
The clock starts when judges perceive that performance has started regardless of whether music is playing.
- Competitors must reserve their music as early as possible. If more than one couple require the same music, the first to reserve will have choice of performance position relative to the other couple(s).
