Showcase Championship

It is open to Advanced competitors or above and must be a male/female partnership. Competitors compete as a solo couple to their own choice of music. Showcase will be judged as two separate events. By Judges for the main competition and by the audience for a separate prize.
Format
- The dancing must be minimum 70% Modern Jive.
- Dancers who fail to achieve this may be disqualified at any point of the competition. A Modern Jive committee has the final word on this. If you are not sure you can pre-show your routine to the committee. For more info, please contact the office.
- Aerials are allowed.
In Showcase the Judges will give more leeway to breakaway dancing, particularly in the opening sequence; e.g. The dancers might start at opposite ends of the stage, or off-stage, and take more than 4 bars of music (approx 10-15 seconds) to reach each other. You will NOT be disqualified for breaking handhold for more extended periods. However, do remember that this is still a Modern Jive partner dancing competition and you will be judged accordingly.
Music
- You can select any music tempo.
- The Judges recommended length is a maximum of 4 minutes. Judges may judge a routine to be too lengthy if competitors go over the judge's recommendation. The clock starts when judges perceive that performance has started regardless of whether music is playing.
- It's a good idea to reserve your music as early as possible. If more than one couple require the same music, the first to reserve will have choice of performance position relative to the other couple(s).
Judging
Showcase Scoring will take in the following attributes:
- Opening
